COVID Guidelines

COVID guidelines were updated by Washington State Department of Health and went into effective as of November 2022. Many of the previously required measures are now recommendations. Read complete guidelines for schools.

Symptomatic persons

Please follow this flowchart (Department of Health is revising this chart to align with updated guidance) for what to do if your child has symptoms of COVID-19.

Positive COVID cases

Students who test positive for COVID-19 are recommended (no longer required) to isolate at home for 5 days or until their symptoms have improved.

Children in early learning or childcare who develop a new onset of COVID symptoms are required to be excluded and they are to follow the Department of Health flowchart.

Schools are no longer required to notify families when there is a positive case in the school. However, families will be notified if there is a COVID-19 outbreak (defined as 5 linked cases within a group or class within 7 days).

Protecting health and safety

It’s essential that students and families continue to:

  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Watch for symptoms of COVID-19
  • Maintain physical distancing to the extent possible
  • Wash and sanitize your hands throughout the day
