Admission of Nonresident Students

Mukilteo School Board Policy 3141 and Procedures 3141-P provide authorization and criteria for acceptance of nonresident students to attend Mukilteo School District schools. The Policy/Procedures provide, in part, as follows:

Any student who resides outside the District may apply to attend a school in the District. Choice Transfer (nonresident) requests for schools at full capacity, as designated by the Superintendent, will not be considered.

The District calculates capacity for out-of-District transfers at the lesser of:

  • The sum of permanent capacity and portable capacity, or
  • 700 students for elementary schools, 825 students for middle schools, and 1,900 students for high schools.
  • In addition, any school that transfers kindergarten students to Pathfinder Kindergarten Center to provide space for the implementation of full-day kindergarten is determined to be over capacity for the purpose of out-of-District transfers.

When a school is closed, specialized programs offered at that school are also closed. This may include Special Education, Highly Capable, etc.

The Superintendent has determined that the following schools are at full capacity and will not consider applications for new nonresident students for the 2024-2025 school year.
