This catalog outlines courses offered at our middle schools so families and students can get a sense of the curriculum and what the middle school experience will look like. We encourage families to sit down and look at the catalog together.

Due to space, facilities, and certification differences, not all courses are offered at each middle school. In addition, sometimes the length of the term listed (trimester or a full year)
for a course might differ. Each course description features notes highlighting these school-specific details.

Middle schools have six periods, or classes, per day. Students will generally have the same five out of the six subject areas:

  • English
  • Social Studies
  • Math
  • Science
  • PE/Health

The sixth class is called an “elective.” Students may pick classes that they have a special interest in. As you look through the catalog, pay close attention to the elective courses at your school as this is where you have some choice. In addition to selecting an elective, students can select whether they would like to be in honors English/Math courses or standard English/Math courses (see course descriptions for details).

Feeling overwhelmed? To help assist with the registration process this spring, each of our middle school counseling teams will visit with students in grades five through seven about this process and how they will select their courses. The selection process happens through our student information system; students will be given specific directions and timelines on how to do this from their current school.
