Safety Study Hall

The logo for the Washington State Department of Health features a stylized 'W' with colorful shapes and the word 'HEALTH' in blue. The Washington State Department of Health is excited to introduce the Safety Study Hall, a library for schools, students, and families to learn more about important safety topics. The all-new website offers prevention strategies, answers to common questions, and highlights resources related to substance use, and the safe storage of firearms, ammunition, prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Informed by the Washington State Legislature HB1230, this page was created to help decrease the rates of child injury and death from drug overdoses and the risks associated with unsecured storage of medication and firearms through access to accurate information and education. The Safety Study Hall is a companion site to the Washington State Department of Health’s Schools | Washington State Department of Health.

Created in partnership with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and other organizations, the Safety Study Hall is a living site that will grow as more resources become available.
