2026 Bond Proposal

Bond Proposal

2026 Capital Construction Bond Proposal
The Mukilteo School District Board of Directors is expected to decide at its July 21, 2026 meeting whether to place a proposed $400 million school construction bond on the November 3, 2026, ballot. If placed on the ballot, the bond would fund school replacements, safety and security improvements, permanent classrooms, critical building system upgrades, technology infrastructure, expanded CTE learning spaces, and improvements to playgrounds and athletic facilities. Voters would make the final decision in November.

Proposed Project Package

To address these needs, the district has proposed a $400 million bond package that would:

  • Continue planned replacement and construction projects at Explorer Middle School, Mukilteo Elementary School, Serene Lake Elementary School, and Olivia Park Elementary School.

  • Increase student safety and security

  • Replace temporary portable classrooms with permanent classrooms

  • Expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) learning spaces

  • Replace or repair critical building systems, including HVAC, windows, roofs, and plumbing

  • Improve technology and data security infrastructure

  • Address the safety and accessibility of fields, gyms, and playgrounds

Every school in the district will receive improvements through this bond package, from safety and security enhancements to technology, facility systems, and outdoor learning spaces. Four schools will also receive major replacement or construction projects. See our project map for individual school project information.

How the bond recommendation was developed

The bond recommendation was developed through a community-led process. Over the past two school years, the Capital Bond Advisory Committees (CBAC) have reviewed building conditions, site challenges, enrollment trends, costs and community feedback.
