VOYAGER MIDDLE SCHOOL
Voyager Middle School was built in 1993 and is now 33 years old. While the building remains in good condition, some systems are aging and require upgrades and improvements. Over multiple bond cycles, the entire Mukilteo School District community has supported investments at Voyager Middle School to address aging infrastructure, and provide students and staff with safe, functional, and reliable learning environments.
2026 BONDS FOR SCHOOLS
To ensure fiscal responsibility and balance addressing district-wide needs, the Capital Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) evaluates and prioritizes all capital improvement needs. Through the 2026 Capital Bond, the Mukilteo School District community will have the opportunity to support the following improvements at Voyager Middle School:
Expand building access controls – Add additional doors to access control system and install door contacts on all exterior doors, allowing the main office to monitor whether an exterior door is open at any time.
Integrated door hardware – Install door hardware that can be locked from inside by using a thumb turn that clearly indicates if it is locked or unlocked. The focus will be spaces beyond standard classrooms, including the library, gym, common spaces, and offices.
Technology infrastructure improvements – Reliable technology depends on strong underlying infrastructure, including cabling and servers. The bond will replace aging cabling and add redundancy to help protect data and maintain technology functions during and after emergencies.
Upgrade fire alarm system – Replace aging fire panel. Obsolete parts can no longer be sourced for it. Replace fire system devices bringing the building up to current fire codes. Upgrade elevator.
Replace lighting – The Building Condition Assessment identified lighting that should be replaced to provide improved learning spaces.
Replace synthetic turf and rubberized track – The football field and track was identified to be replaced due to its age and degrading conditions.
