Mariner

MARINER HIGH SCHOOL
Mariner High School was constructed in 1968 and has seen multiple additions and renovations to accommodate student growth and changing needs. There have also been updates and replacements for aging systems. Over multiple bond cycles, the entire Mukilteo School District community has supported investments at Mariner High School to address aging infrastructure, and provide students and staff with safe, functional, and reliable learning environments.
2026 CAPITAL BONDS FOR SCHOOLS
The volunteer Capital Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) evaluates and prioritizes facility needs across the district to help ensure bond funding is focused on the highest-priority projects. For the 2026 bond, the committee recommended $400 million in projects from approximately $975 million in identified needs.
The proposed bond includes the following improvements at Mariner High School:
Expand building access controls – Add additional doors to access control system and install door contacts on all exterior doors, allowing the main office to monitor whether an exterior door is open at any time.
Adding integrated door hardware – Install door hardware that can be locked from inside by using a thumb turn that clearly indicates if it is locked or unlocked. The focus will be spaces beyond standard classrooms, including the library, gym, common spaces, and offices.
Technology infrastructure improvements – Reliable technology depends on strong underlying infrastructure, including cabling and servers. The bond will replace aging cabling and add redundancy to help protect data and maintain technology functions during and after emergencies.
Upgrade elevators – Upgrade two elevators that have not had any major upgrades since initial installation.
Replace lighting – The Building Condition Assessment identified lighting that should be replaced to provide improved learning spaces.
Resurface tennis courts – Resurface tennis courts including repairs of surface cracks
Replace synthetic turf & rubberized track at Goddard Stadium – The football field and track was identified to be replaced due to its degrading conditions. While this is a district athletic facility, Mariner High School also uses it for their physical education programs.
