Congratulations to Kamiak High School Behavior Specialist Brandin Chapman for being named All-Star Washington Educator by Premera Blue Cross and Seattle Storm!

Premera Blue Cross teamed up with the WNBA's Seattle Storm to recognize five All-Star Washington educators at the Storm's Back-to-School game on Monday, Sept. 1.

As part of the new All-Stars program, the public was invited to nominate school employees who consistently make a meaningful difference, whether they're teachers, paraeducators, bus drivers, or school counselors. Chapman was nominated by the community, friends and colleagues.

“Being treated like an All-Star by the Storm was such an amazing experience,” said Chapman. “I got to bring two of my students down to the tunnel to high-five the players as they came onto the court. I really appreciated the focus on community in being able to invite my colleagues and students from Kamiak and include them in the event. It was a huge honor to be nominated by so many members of the community and to be one of five educators to receive this award.”

With a background in mental health counseling, Chapman is credited with helping to transform Kamiak’s detention space into a place of connection, support, and growth. She works one-on-one with students in the “Time Out” room talking with them, helping with homework, and guiding them to make lasting changes.

We’re proud to celebrate Brandin’s impactful work and well-deserved recognition!
