Pathfinder Kindergarten Center

Student pick-up policy

For Pathfinder Kindergarten Center families:

We must deliver students to an authorized person when dropping off at a bus stop and during afterschool pickup. We have had several instances of a child’s parent not being at the bus stop or at school to pick up during dismissal. This causes stress for students and creates hardship for staff when the bus returns the student to the school. Often, students are returned after the office has closed and after staff member shifts have ended. While we do make attempts to reach a parent or guardian, it causes disruption to other students and families since it can delay bus routes and impact our staff’s ability to leave when school hours end.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 4, if an authorized person is not at the bus stop to receive your child, or at parent pick up after school, we will try to reach the parent or guardian. If we can’t reach an authorized person to pick up the student in a timely manner, the student will be brought to the Boys and Girls Club at Fairmount Elementary School. They will charge the family $30 per incident. The club is open until 6 p.m. and if a student is not picked up by 6 p.m., they will be charged an additional $5 every minute after 6 p.m. until the child is picked up. Payment will be due prior or upon pickup, and payment options are at the bottom of this message.

How you can help:

  • Please make sure the school office has updated emergency and family contacts.
  • The pick-up person should have the authorized card with them.
  • Alternate contacts should have at least a photo of the pickup authorization card (attached) or their photo ID for security purposes.
  • Please keep in mind that the school bus could be five minutes early and up to 20 minutes late on typical days due to traffic and other unplanned interruptions, so we appreciate your flexibility in preparing for those variances that are out of our control.

We understand that sometimes unexpected things happen, so we hope this solution covers those unplanned situations when needed.

Payment options:

  • Pay by check at the school site
  • Complete a financial form at pick up
  • Call the Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club before 6 p.m. to make payment over the phone at 425-355-2733
