When your passion and your profession intersect, it isn't a job, it's a calling. Mary is passionate about creating equitable systems and structures and leading educators in educational practices that best meet the needs of each learner.
Mary attended Oregon State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Science with an Early Childhood Emphasis and a master's in education with a focus on language development. Later, she earned her administrator certificate from Portland State University.
Mary was an elementary teacher in Oregon and Washington for 10 years, six in a dual-language program. Most recently, Mary worked in the Edmonds School District as an assistant principal, principal, and currently Director of Multilingual Education. Throughout her career, she has focused on implementing equitable systems and practices to improve student access and achievement for marginalized groups.
Mary is a mother to eight children, including three biological children, three stepchildren, and two foster children. She loves music, has sung in a jazz and blues band, and performs in local musicals.
