Schoology for Guardians

  • Once you get your student's Schoology access code from your student's teacher, use this quick start guide to setup your account and connect to your student's account.

Quick Start Guide: Connecting to Your Student's Account

  • In order to sign in to Schoology as a parent, you need your child's parent access code. This code can be shared with you by your child's teacher.

If you have more than one child attending a Mukilteo school, you can add more children to your account.

To learn more, go to connecting to your student's account.

  • The Mukilteo School District only has access to student Schoology accounts. If you are a parent visit, the Schoology website, and enter the email address you used to sign up.

This will not work to reset your child's password, so entering their email address will not allow a reset.

  • You will need your child's access code to sign-up as a parent in Schoology.

Parents use a different sign-in website than their student. Parents login here, Schoology, and click Log In or sign Up in the upper right.

Watch this video to learn how Parents sign-in to Schoology.

MORE ABOUT SCHOOLOGY

  • Watch this overview of the features and tools available to users with a Schoology Parent Account.

  • Learn the basics of using Schoology to communicate with you child's school and instructors.

  • Let's take a look at some important distinctions between Parent and Student Accounts in Schoology.

  • You can find information about your student's grades by choosing your student from the drop-down menu available next to your name (upper right-hand corner).

Screenshot from Schoology, showing the header with Student Activity - Enrollments

Once viewing your child's screen, one of the menu options in the banner at the top of the page will be Grade Report.  Choosing Grade Report will show you a list of all your student's courses and their current grade in that course.  Clicking on a class from this grade report window will allow you to see more details about the grade for that class.  These details would include grades for each grading category the teacher is using and individual grades for each assignment.

Screenshot from Schoology, showing a course syllabus for US History and Geography

You will also see on this page an option to download the current student report if you would like to save a snapshot of the grades at that particular point in time.  Clicking on this option will give you a dialogue box that will ask for more information about what exactly you would like to download.

Note: Schoology will not replace the Qmlativ Parent Portal. Parents will still need to log in to the Qmlativ Parent Portal to obtain the most current information regarding student grades and attendance.  However, Schoology will give parents the most up to date information about assignments, and classroom resources.

GUARDIAN FREQUENT QUESTIONS

  • Schoology also has a mobile app that you can download, and this is something we highly encourage parents to install on either iOS or Android.  The mobile app allows you to check what's happening in Schoology when you're on the go.

The video below shows how parents can use the mobile app for Schoology.

  • The Calendars in Schoology will have school events listed as well as course events and assignments.  You could also add events to your own personal Schoology calendar.  The school and campus calendars can be exported and added to your personal digital calendar that you use.

Screenshot from Schoology, showing a view with multiple studentsScreenshot from Schoology, showing a calendar view

You must be aware that when you are in your parent account, you will only see school-related events or events and items for courses or groups in which you are enrolled.  In order to see events and assignments that are related to your children's account, switch your view to one of your students.  This is done by clicking on the drop-down menu located next to your name in the upper right corner.  After choosing a child account, you'll see a banner at the top of the window, indicating that you are viewing his/her account.

For your calendar, you are given an option to turn on or off the school calendar and any campus calendars that you are associated with.   You will also see an option for your personal calendar here as well.  Your student's calendars are view only.

To export the school and campus calendars, choose the export option at the bottom of the calendar.  In the dialog box that appears you should select share.  Follow the instructions of your device for how to use the iCal feed that you are given.

  • There are various notification options that parents can choose.  You can opt to receive a daily or weekly digest for your student's information and/or push notifications via email or text when certain items in Schoology are changed for courses, groups, or announcements that you are enrolled in as a parent (like this Parent Orientation course).  You also can determine for what types of things you want notifications.  If you have questions about specific notifications, please check the Personal Account (Parent): Notifications article in our Help Center.

You can get to the daily or weekly digest settings by clicking on the drop-down menu beside your name in the upper right corner, selecting a student account, and then choosing the settings option.

  • Yes! There is a Schoology parent guide! This guide consists of detailed explanations of different features and tools, along with step-by-step walkthroughs. Designed as a hands-on resource, this guide can be used on a stand-alone basis or in coordination with the platform.

Information is available in the following areas:

  • Here is a video walking you through the steps to set up a parent account. Before doing this you will need at least one of your student's access codes. The student access codes will be sent to the email address we have on file.

    Translated Versions : English | Korean | Russian | Spanish | Ukrainian | Vietnamese

  • Student access codes will be sent to the email address we have on file through Blackboard.

  • Parents that have a basic account with an incorrect child association will need to delete the account and create a new parent account with the correct Parent Access Code.

To delete an account, navigate to Schoology (delete) while logged into the account you'd like to delete. Deleting an account removes all submissions, resources, and content associated with the account, and neither the account nor the items can be restored.

Once the account is deleted, you can create a new account with the correct code.

  • Schoology sends you email notifications for Social, Academic, Group, and School activity that occurs in your account. These notifications pertain to the school, courses, and groups in which you are enrolled (not courses or groups in which your child is enrolled).

To access your personal account notifications, click the arrow in the upper right corner of Schoology, and select Settings. Then click the Notifications tab.
