Retrofit and replace existing perimeter gates at seven district schools to allow for better ingress and egress and enhance site security.

Video intercoms and front door release buttons have been installed at all schools allowing office staff to see/talk to visitors before letting them into the building.

As part of the 2020 Capital Bond all schools will receive access controls for the main entry/egress points of the school. At doors with access control, there is entry using a card instead of a key, ability to schedule locked/unlocked throughout the day, and the ability to lock with the push of a button in an emergency. Each school is reviewed with the school administration and Safety Department to determine which doors will be included in this first phase of access controls. Additional doors may be added if funding allows in future bonds.

Access control work has been completed at Kamiak High School. Installation is in progress at Explorer Middle School, Mukilteo Elementary, Olivia Park Elementary, and Odyssey Elementary. Design/engineering is in progress for Serene Lake Elementary, Voyager Middle School and Picnic Point Elementary. As installations are beginning, engineering for the next set of schools is underway and this will continue until all schools are completed.

Install TelecenterU intercom system at all schools allowing for standard emergency messaging.

Completed March 2022

Replace existing general classroom door hardware at all schools. New hardware includes interior thumb turn with one motion egress and lock/unlock indicator.
