Mukilteo Elementary School was built in 1982. The school is located within the City of Mukilteo on 9.8 acres. Permanent square footage is 41,727 and there are ten (10) portable classrooms. A master plan for an entire school replacement including the scope of Phase I has been completed. Phase I will relocate ten (10) existing classrooms into a new building.  The new building will be approximately 19,973 square feet.  The project will include site work consisting of a play area, walkways, fire lane improvements, and landscaping.  New utility services will include a storm detention system.  Construction commenced in Summer 2024 and is anticipated to be complete in the Fall of 2025.

Timeline

    • Contractor continues installation of forms for footings and foundation walls.
    • 1st floor mechanical room retaining walls have been poured. Contractor is working on upper-level foundation stem walls. foundation work will continue through the end of October and into early November. 
    • Water vapor barrier is being applied to basement mechanical level retaining walls.
    • Underground utility work is underway for the 1st floor mechanical room. 
    • Storm Retention has been smoothed over with topsoil and hydroseed has been applied.  
    • Contractor preparing site for the wet season.

    • Contractor completed excavation of the foundation in September. 
    • Forming of the foundation walls is underway with multiple days scheduled for concrete pours. 
    • Soil backfill of the storm retention is complete.
    • Contractor is prepping site for the upcoming rainy season.

    • The civil contractor removed a large boulder found underground while digging the storm retention vault. 
    • Media filters have been installed (storm vault) and covered over with crushed rock. 
    • Utility work continues onsite.
    • Hard surface area prep is underway in preparation for the start of school in September.

    • Site preparation and excavation is underway.
