Save the date for Monday, October 7, 6-7 p.m. when district superintendent and safety and security team will discuss the recent trend of social media threats, how we respond to them and how families can help. The event will be offered as a Zoom webinar with time for questions. Watch for the Zoom link next week.

As we shared in a previous ParentSquare post, the Nutrition Benefit Application can help your student qualify for summer meal assistance and reduced or waived school fees. It also helps the district determe family needs and qualify for important learning assistance programs, meals, and grants that support students and families. If you have not already done so, please complete the Nutrition Benefit Application by Sunday night, Sept. 29.

Note: If your family is already “directly certified” by the state, meaning you receive state benefits such as ECEAP, Basic Food, Medicaid, etc., you can skip to the Consent to Share form.

Many students qualify for free or reduced fees based on their family income, but we need family permission to share that information with the appropriate staff who oversee those programs (example: ASB cards, PSAT and Advanced Placement tests, uniforms, etc.). If you would like to grant permission for your eligibility to be shared ONLY with the staff who oversee relevant programs for your student to receive free or discounted services, please complete the Consent to Share Form in the Family Access Portal. Detailed instructions are available in this previous ParentSquare post. 

Schools and school districts have the authority to share “directory information” about students to certain people or institutions, such as news media or colleges, unless the parent or guardian opts out of sharing that information. Directory information is defined as a student’s first and last name; photographic and electronic images; dates of school attendance; participation in officially recognized activities and sports; weight and height of members of athletic teams; degrees, honors, and awards received; and most recent school attended. (Mukilteo School District does not release directory information for commercial purposes.) School districts also provide lists of high school student names to military recruiters and institutions of higher education. Parents and guardians have the right to tell the school district and its schools to keep private any directory information about their student.

The opt-out form is optional. Complete this form by October 1, ONLY if you DO NOT want directory information released about your child. If you have more than one student, please complete a form for each student to opt out. You can skip this form if you are not opting out of the level of sharing described above. Responses (or non-repsonses) to this form will replace any previous responses about your student's privacy. 

Please note: You must be logged into ParentSquare to complete this electronic form. You can access fillable pdf versions of this form and their translations on the district website under the Students and Families tab, or request a paper copy from your student's school office.

Students in Mukilteo School District have access to laptop computers and other devices for learning! Students in grades 6-12 check out and transport their laptops between school and home. Elementary students have access to their own laptops in their classroom to use throughout the day. While elementary laptops will remain at school most of the time, there may be times when elementary students will take a laptop home.

We need your help to increase access and ensure that each student has a device readily available to support their learning. Please review the technology use agreement and complete the form linked to the post. Thank you!
