Welcome back to school!
Superintendent Alison Brynelson smiling and standing in front of a brick wall
I hope your first full week of school is going well! This time of year is so joyful and interacting with students and families during pick-up and drop-off times reminds me of the anticipation of a new school year for students. I saw so many students bound out of their cars and buses this week, excited to see their friends, meet their new teachers, and in some cases, start fresh as they join a new school community.

We are proud to be a part of providing the safe, fun, learning environment that is so critical to your children's growth. I wish each student and their family a wonderful school year with lots of joy and learning!

Sincerely,
Dr. Alison Brynelson
Superintendent

Milk and second meal prices

While all students may have one free breakfast and one free lunch at school, additional meals must be purchased. In addition, milks purchased separate from the school meal (if bringing a lunch from home, or getting a second milk, for instance) must be purchased because of the way schools are reimbursed for meals served. Families must purchase milk sold separately and additional meals.

For elementary students, we charge for the following items:

  • Single milks: $.50
  • Second meal at breakfast: $1.75
  • Second meal at lunch: $3.35

For middle and high school students, we charge for the following items:

  • Single milk: $.50
  • Second meal at breakfast: $2
  • Second meal at lunch: $3.60
  • Ala Carte snack items

If you have students who would like to purchase these items, please load funds into your student's My School Bucks account by following these steps:
  1. Go to myschoolbucks.com
  2. Click “sign up for free” and follow instructions
  3. When the student purchases any of the above items at school, your student's MySchoolBucks account will be charged

A note about cash payments:
Elementary schools do not have cash registers, so if you need to pay with cash, please bring your payment to the Nutrition Services Office at District Support Services (8925 Airport Road, Everett, 98204).

Middle and high schools do have cash registers, so secondary students may bring their cash to school and give it to the nutrition services team during lunch.

Student Privacy Rights form
Schools and school districts have the authority to share “directory information” about students to certain people or institutions, such as news media or colleges, unless the parent or guardian opts out of sharing that information. Directory information is defined as a student’s first and last name; photographic and electronic images; dates of school attendance; participation in officially recognized activities and sports; weight and height of members of athletic teams; degrees, honors, and awards received; and most recent school attended. (Mukilteo School District does not release directory information for commercial purposes.) School districts also provide lists of high school student names to military recruiters and institutions of higher education. Parents and guardians have the right to tell the school district and its schools to keep private any directory information about their student.

The opt-out form is optional. Complete this form by October 1, ONLY if you DO NOT want directory information released about your child. If you have more than one student, please complete a form for each student to opt out. You can skip this form if you are not opting out of the level of sharing described above. Responses (or non-repsonses) to this form will replace any previous responses about your student's privacy.

Please note: You must be logged into ParentSquare to complete this electronic form. You can access fillable pdf versions of this form and their translations on the district website under the Students and Families tab, or request a paper copy from your student's school office.

You can learn more about your student's privacy rights on the district website in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook's Legal Notices section

Technology Use form
Students in Mukilteo School District have access to laptop computers and other devices for learning! Students in grades 6-12 check out and transport their laptops between school and home. Elementary students have access to their own laptops in their classroom to use throughout the day. While elementary laptops will remain at school most of the time, there may be times when elementary students will take a laptop home.

We need your help to increase access and ensure that each student has a device readily available to support their learning. Please review the technology use agreement and complete the form linked to the post. Thank you!

To get the most out of your ParentSquare communication with school and district staff, check out the resources available on the district ParentSquare website! You can find "getting started" guides in English, Spanish and Ukrainian, participate in self-paced trainings in English and Spanish, and get answers to some of the most frequent questions.

Other help resources are also available through your ParentSquare account. Just click on the question mark ("?") button at the top of your ParentSquare screen.

Calendars!
Screenshot showing where to find the one-page calendars on the website
The 2024-25 calendar is on the district website. To save resources for core student needs, we are not printing a multi-page wall calendar this year. A paper copy of the one-page calendar will be distributed to each student and staff member during the first week of school.

Calendar details are entered on school and district ParentSquare calendars and on the websites. View district web calendar

More good news!
As a result of a successful bargaining agreement, the 2025-26 and 2026-27 one-page calendars are also complete! They can be found on the district website under the Students and Families tab.
