Highly Capable Services

Kids studying together at a table

Each fall, Mukilteo School District identifies students for Highly Capable Services. Screening takes place in the fall.  All students in grades kindergarten, two and five will be screened.

Parents and guardians of students in grades 1, 3, and 4 who would like their student screened for Highly Capable qualification must submit a Screening Request Form by October 6, 2023.

A continuum of Highly Capable services includes:

  • Learning Enrichment Achievement Program (LEAP) ~ Grades K - 12
  • Summit Program ~ Grades 3 - 8
  • Honors Program ~ Grades 6 - 8
  • Advanced course offerings, College in the High School and Running Start ~ Grades 9 - 12

Additional information can be found on the Highly Capable Services brochure. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the Assessment Department by email at otanisx@mukilteo.wednet.edu, or by phone at 425-356-1218.  Translations of the brochure are available within the Highly Capable Services website.

All middle school students now have the option to enroll in English Language Arts and Math Honors classes if interested and space is available. Parents and guardians of students in grade 5 should indicate interest to the middle school in the spring.
