Shout-out to Nutrition Services!

Posted Date: 10/15/25 (12:15 PM)

Children line up at a school cafeteria, selecting lunch from a serving line.Shout out to our Nutrition Services team members across the district who prepare and serve more than 11,000 healthy meals to our students every day! We celebrate you 365 days a year… but next week, we’ve got official celebration privileges! Next week is National School Lunch Week (Oct. 13-17), sponsored by the School Nutrition Association. President John F. Kennedy created NSLP in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has on their education and life.

To celebrate, Nutrition Services’ will be serving Chicken Lo Mein at all elementary schools on Thursday. This Chinese American dish of stir-fried spaghetti noodles/pasta tossed in a savory sauce, is sure to be a hit.

Staff in the central kitchen are always busy whipping up homemade items such as fresh-made sandwiches, granola and yogurt parfaits, cinnamon rolls with icing, peach cobbler, and apple cinnamon breakfast muffins. A little birdie also shared that pumpkin smoothies are in the works! Those are sure to be a hit! Thanks to our awesome Nutrition Services staff and the breakfast, lunch, and supper crews at all our schools for ensuring students receive a wholesome lunch every day!
